What the finance report shows

Reports › Finances sums up the money for the selected date range and locations in six figures: Charged to customers, Discounts, Refunds & Returns, VAT, Net sales and Transactions. Below them, a bar splits what was charged into net sales, discounts, refunds and VAT, and a table details every item.

Charged to customers is the amount with VAT included, before discounts and refunds. Net sales is the taxable base: what was charged less discounts, refunds and VAT. In the table, amounts that are subtracted are shown in parentheses, and every row has an information icon explaining what it includes. You can narrow the report with the Channels, Payment provider and Payment type (Card, Cash or Other) filters.

Viewing the table by channels or by periods

In Reports › Finances, the table's rows are always the items (charged, discounts, VAT, total…). You choose the columns: with Channels, each column is a sales channel; with Periods, each column is a day or a month of the range, depending on whether you pick Day or Month.

Amounts are calculated the same way in both views, so the periods add up to the total by channels. The view you pick is remembered the next time you open the report.

Grouping channels into columns

In Reports › Finances, the Configure channel groups button lets you bundle several channels into a single column, for example every delivery platform. Click Add group, give it a name of up to 40 characters, pick its channels and turn on Group columns so the groups replace their channels in the table. You can also drag channels and groups to change the column order, or return to the starting grouping with Reset to default.

Groups only apply to the Channels view. If some of a group's channels are missing from the selected range, the group is marked as not applied and shows how many of its channels are available.

Renaming the rows

In Reports › Finances, the Row labels option lets you rename any row of the table in your own words, up to 40 characters. The names are yours: only your user sees them, in that company.

Your names appear in the table and in the current-view CSV export. The finance close in PDF and XLSX and the summary figures at the top always keep the standard names, so every close your accountant receives reads the same. Use Reset all to go back to the original names.
