What the consumptions report shows
Reports › Consumptions shows what your business used up in the chosen period, which is the basis of your food cost. At the top you see the Total cost and the Consumption over time chart with the amount of each ingredient day by day.
Choose whether to analyse Ingredients or Preparations, select the ones you care about and switch the unit between Weight, Volume and Units. On the cost bar, Show lets you toggle between Cost and Amount.
Per-ingredient and per-preparation breakdown
In Reports › Consumptions, the Per-ingredient breakdown table lists, for each ingredient, the Available, Consumed, Variance and Average cost for the period. If an ingredient's stock is not tracked, its Available column shows Track; click it to open its stock.
The Per-preparation breakdown table shows the consumption and cost of each preparation. Expand a row to see the ingredients it is made of.
Estimated consumption of an item sold
In Reports › Sales, the Items sold table groups what was sold by catalog tag. If an item has a recipe, click its row to open its estimated consumption for the period: Units sold, Total cost, how much of each ingredient was used and the Consumption over time chart. Items without a recipe do not open this detail.
