Comparing periods

Compare your figures with the previous period, week, month or year, or with dates you choose.

Turning on a comparison

Reports › Sales and Reports › Operations can compare the chosen range with another period. Open Compare to and pick Previous period, Previous week, Previous month, Previous year or Custom… to choose the dates yourself; No comparison turns it off. With Show as you decide whether differences appear as a percentage (%) or as an absolute value (123).

The comparison you pick is remembered the next time you open the report.

Comparing today

When you look at today only in Reports › Sales or Reports › Operations, the comparison stops at the time you are looking: at 14:05 it compares with the comparison day up to 14:05, and the picker says so with "until 14:05". That way you do not see −80% all morning from being measured against a day that has already finished.

Hour-by-hour charts are the exception: they show the whole comparison day, so you can see where the rest of the day is heading.

Where you see the differences

With a comparison on in Reports › Sales or Reports › Operations, every summary figure at the top shows a badge with the change against the comparison period. In Sales you also see it in the location ranking and in the Δ vs comparison column of the detail by location, and the by-hour evolution chart puts the Current period next to the Comparison period.
